It was hot…! Not just because the venue was obviously feeling the credit crunch and decided to not just turn off the Radio but also the air conditioning and any possible fan they had. But that didn’t stop the vibes, but did create a ‘Turkish Bath’ of energy and music. Guest’s such as Ghostpoet, who i have never heard before, was a breath of fresh air in a style of Hip Hop Ive not heard before…! You must check him out.
Maverick Sabre tore down the crowed with his soulful riffs and husky vocals that defy any Irish accent Ive ever known. Then our very own Random Impulse, in just setting up a band in two short weeks bought the house down! His hard vocals on intense Indie beats with a drop of blues, soul and a touch of something brand new that just captivated the whole venue. Along side Goldielocks and Grime superstar Dot Rotten this was one not to be missed. Even in the mist of the slightly dodgy sound system (that’s an understatement, but I’m trying to be nice so low me!). Here are the pics from the night taken by myself and you may see few of the Ego Thieves / Nuckin Fang family in there None of me of course, some say I’m a phantom of the photo.
Big up all that attended and the Turn The Radio Off crew alongside Box Fresh clothing. Good times. Whoop!
Hit out Facebook for the rest of the pics and tag yourself.
Yup. Tonight we are here and you should be too! With our very own Nuckin Fang and Ego Thieves family in hand including live performances from our very own Random Impulse along side his band…! Yes, band. Me nah stutter! Also special Irish bwoi Maverick Sabre, and free clothing from Box Fresh. This is special and not to be missed. See you right dur!
If you don’t know about Major Lazer, then allow your face to be duppy slapped with a wet fish called Wonda. They are comprised of Switch and Diplo. Its a side / collaboration project pushing the envelope of music, especially Reggae and Bashment. This is one for our ’Tuning The Summer’ selection. Random tracks we feel represent the Summer of ‘09. Here is the first, enjoy
Funky House music has presented us with a gift from the skies, Donae’o. Previously having a guest appearance on ‘The Street’s – Fit But You Know It’ alongside Kano, Tinchy Stryder and Lady Sovereign and having released one of the prime selling tracks of 2003 ‘Bounce (My Philosophy).’ Donae’o is now back and responsible for providing club goers with some of the biggest club tracks this year such as, ‘Devil in a Blue Dress, Party Hard and African Warrior,’ all of which are included in his latest album entitled, ‘Party Hard.’ The title is self-explanatory, the album features real party music… summer beats displaying positive and unifying lyrics about life, women and even peace, all with sweet and soulful vocals.
Pros:
Great music for a night out, jamming and skanking.
Some good subjects discussed lyrically in the album, promotes UK talent in a positive light.
Each track delivers with first-class vocals and instrumentals.
With phrases such as ‘Zoom, zoom, zoom’ and ‘Simmeh Now,’ Donae’o is bound to be memorable.
Cons:
Some tracks being over 5 minutes long, may push you into skipping onto the next track.
Lyrics within a few tunes on the album can sometimes get repetitive.
Not much diversity within the musical beats, majority are upbeat, with a few exceptions.
7 /10 – UK vocal Funky House at its best! Donaeo fans will not be disappointed and Soulful House fans may well be enticed.
Love it when you hear a track and straight away your thinking… dam!!
Had this on promo since about mid April and now the video for this is about to drop. Directed by Bernard Gourley, a dark sexy smouldering scene, involving ice and Cassie (that sounds good ). The track is somewhat reminiscent of classic Bad Boy from the 90’s all thats missing is cold ass verse from Big (Rip). Produced by duo Bryan Michael Cox & Mario Winans, this is cassie’s first single from her “Electro Love” album dropping in the next few weeks.
I’ve been a huge fan of production team N.A.S.A since they first arose on the scene. All their videos take music to a next step and “Avolta” doesn’t disappoint. Featuring Sizzla, Amanda Blank, & Lovefoxxx. TRULY A MADNESS!!!
LA teen duo New Boyz release video to their debut track “You’re A Jerk”. Jerking is a dance craze blowing up in LA at the mo, and this is almost like the jerking anthem.
Dragon aka Duncan Powell , 4×4 professer , 2 Step scientist and all round dope beatmaker. I dont know why this guy aint producing on a much higher level, some of his track are amazing!! Download some of the tracks at his site and check back for more soon.
Had to jump in on this post and add the Foamo remix to this as yet again i think the remix of her work is better than the original! Video is nice though… Jenai

As always us Egothieves try to keep you in the know with wots hot and wots sometimes not! Following hot on the heals of KIGs ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’ this tune is a potential carnival anthem of 2009!
‘Bring It Back’ is set to sweep the nation, as the retro-minded get ready to dust off legendary old skool dances from the 80’s and 90’s.
The cream of the crop UK urban talent are stepping out in force to support this infectious and energetic anthem. Cheeky clips of Peter ‘Robot’ Crouch, MC Hammer and general shenanigans with Joe Public only add to the fun.
This Afro-Caribbean, UK-Funky mishmash catches the fever and energy reminiscent of the Trinidad and Tobago carnival. Look out for cameos from N-Dubz, Tinchy Stryder, KIG Family, Shystie, Bashy, Wretch 32, Scorcher, Hotsteppa, Zest, Coldsteps, Mr Play, Young Nate, Sincere, Ras Kwame, Dynamo The Magician, Kele Le Roc and many more..check it out

At last….. A new track from Lady Ny!! I been starved of material from this girl since Split Endz Vol II came out few years back now. Really cant remember where i heard “Fire” in the first place, but straight away i was hooked on this girl . A UK Female vocalist with some real talent and two very nice independant albums/mixtapes under her belt.
She has worked with alot of grime artists in the past , featuring on one of my all time favorite Uk mixtape/albums “Eye Of The Tiger Vol 1″ (which of im still waiting on vol 2 STANZA!!!!) If you actually never heard Eye Of The Tiger Vol 1, shame and go cop NOW!
Really gets my back up when people like this aint signed and pushed to there full potential, she’s got a great voice and has proved her versatility by working with varied producers/artists from the likes of Wiley, Plan B, Sincere, Jonny Rock stars and more recently the Count and Sinden . This latest track Dangerous is kinda Uk Funky, not a road i expected her to go down at all but well produced and great vocals from her as expected.
Personally its still all about “Falling Again” the vocal to Wookies Gallium. Ny get signed ,get out there and do us proud.
Its, Its, Its Serani! Hot on the lips of many a Reggae / Dancehall fan. His last album sky rocketed and with his current single ‘No Games‘ doing very well and on Myspace alone has had over 14 million (yes million!) spins, his dominance seems to continue to sky rocket! We sent Theo Tziapouras from Ego Thieves to catch up with him and ask that all important question… Do you have an Ego?
What can we expect from the new album? Who have you worked with on it?
Well so far ive worked with DASECA, there’s Chimney records i work closely with them aswel. Jukebox records, i did a couple songs with them and theres one that i think is gonna be on the album. What you ccan expect is some crazy melodies, some you know, new creative different ideas in terms of concepts. Its mostly club vibes…and definitely geared towards the ladies!
Whats your take on the Reggae/Dancehall scene at the moment?
Well im really proud to know that dancehall is doing so well and that im actually a part of it. You know theres Movado doing well and u kno Erupt is doing pretty well with Click My Fingers and you know theres Elephant Man present, he has always been there too and the 4 of us have all hit the billboard charts in recent times so its actually a good look since the year start to have 4 artist’s in dancehall hittin the charts. I believe that we all are working hard to maintain that vibe and to stay on the international scene, we just tryna keep the fire burning straight up and keep dancehall in the game!
Who else is up and coming in the scene you would recommend?
Kibaki! Very very very talented and hes gonna do pretty well im sure so look out.
Name one gadget you cant live without!
Urmmm…my keyboard haha!
Do you play any computer games if so which ones?
I used to allot when i was younger but now i don’t have the time, maybe when my kids get older haha.
Whats the best thing about Jamaica apart from curry goat?
Jerk? haha…i joke. The women of course along with the scenery.
Tell people about the women of Jamica and why you dedicate most of your songs to the ladies?
They are the most beautiful women in the world, and u know the London ladies are next!
Whats the first thing you do in the morning and last thing you do at night?
Well first thing i do in the morning…after i brush my teeth! Is go on the treadmill and runn for about 40 minutes and do some excercise.. and last thing at night would be ermmm… Brush my teeth?! haha
Finally, do you consider yourself to have an Ego?
Yea who doesn’t…
Do you think thats important? becasue allot of people seem to take that as a negative thing and we try to tell people its very different from being arrogant.
Everybody has to have an ego, its a human thing. So you wouldn’t be human if you didn’t have an ego! I guess i would say, to be in any game, to be big in what you do you have to end up being a leader! And to be a leader you have to be strong, you cant be a pushover so in terms of that you have demands, you have to command your position y’kna? So in oder to get there you have to push… and then i guess certain people might think you have an ego or think of it as sumthing negative but really and truely its a fight you know how i mean? You cant be soft and expect to reach somewhere so i support your push of the Ego!
If you are not some one with a sense of humour and get offended when people look at the funny side of things, TURN AWAY NOW!!! If not then continue watching because Mike skinners at it again with “look behind you, hes got swine flu.” This track basically takes the mick out of all the paranoid people, getting a bit over dramatic over swine flu like it is some sort of zombie virus. The vid itself is made out of clips from an array of zombie films.
